Noisy Pitta - Pitta versicolor
The Noisy Pitta is a shy species of the forest, seldom allowing people a good view as it fossicks around among the fallen leaves and other accumulated organic matter on the forest floor. But it can be easy to see where they have been feeding: before they eat snails, they first break their shells on a favourite rock, and over time, the number of broken snail-shells accumulates, forming middens. Some of these feeding sites may be used over several years.
